John Long

John Long – Vice President Engineering & ITFor over 25 years, John Long has been engineering metal buildings. Having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1983 John has continued to use his knowledge and expertise to engineer and design unique and intricate pre-engineered metal buildings. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the following states: Ohio, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and Texas.
Over the course of his career, John worked his way up the ranks starting out as a Design Engineer for Armco Building Systems in Cincinnati Ohio. While he was with Armco he was responsible for the design and cost estimates for a variety of metal building projects ensuring they were compliant with the applicable design codes.
Armco was eventually purchased by Steelox Systems. John continued his career with Steelox for the next 20 years until the company could no longer stay open. It was then he moved to Houston, Texas and became the Vice President of Engineering for Rigid Building Systems, and now Rigid Global Buildings.
John is proficient with a wide range of design and engineering software including: RamSteel, Mathcad, AutoCAD, Microstation, Visio, Pro/Engineer, ManagePro as well as International standards for AISC, AISI, ASCE for steel structures.
John is responsible for the Engineering Department at Rigid Global Buildings including budget management, project management and supervising over 100 engineers, estimators, CADD operators and detailers as well as the IT Department.
